Lars Nittve
Lars Nittve is a Swedish museologist and art critic. He is currently Executive Director of the M+ visual culture museum in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District. He was born in Stockholm in 1953 and completed his post-graduate studies at the Department of Art History, University of Stockholm and at the International Centre for Advanced Studies in Art, New York University. Between 1979 and 1985 he was an art critic on the Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet. Nittve was curator at the art museum Rooseum in Malmö (1986–1990) and director of the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Denmark (1995–1998). In 1998, he became head of Tate Modern in London and since 2001 he has been director of Moderna Museet, the national museum for modern art in Stockholm. He was a member of the Committee of Experts for the 1997 Venice Biennale and a juror for the 1997 Turner Prize. He has written extensively on modern art and is the author of many books and catalogues.
