Announcement of a ground-breaking new project funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust.
Following an announcement at the Sovereign Asian Art Prize Gala Dinner earlier this year, The Sovereign Art Foundation is delighted to confirm that it has been successful in securing a grant from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to launch a ground-breaking three-year ‘train-the-trainer’ programme in Hong Kong, with an aim to using the arts to benefit the local community and most specifically school children, their teachers and social workers.
The programme, the official name of which will be announced soon, will begin in August 2017. The goal of the project is to train teachers in selected schools in Hong Kong to successfully integrate principles of expressive arts therapy into their classes, in order to better support children with diagnosed SEN and their classmates.
At least 20 local schools are expected to participate in the programme, which will be run in partnership with The University of Hong Kong (HKU) Centre on Behavioural Health. As well as helping to provide the training, HKU will conduct research in conjunction with the project across the three-year period.
Stay tuned for updates on the programme as it develops.
