The entries for the Decorative and Fine Art Society (DFAS) de la Frontera “2017 Young Artists’ Exhibition” were proudly displayed in the ‘Espacio Joven de la Alameda Alfonso XI’ in San Roque, Spain on Friday 28th April.
The Sovereign Group were happy to once again be invited to sponsor the 150 euro prize to be awarded to the public vote winner.
The entries came from 4 schools in the local area: Sotogrande International School, IES Jose Cadalso, IES Sierra Almenara and IES Mar del Sur.
DFAS de la Frontera awarded 3 prizes on the night. The 15 and over prize of 300 euro was awarded to Miguel Angel Santos, of IES Jose Cadalso, for his work ‘Mariposas’. The 14 and under prize of 200 euro was awarded to Loreto Villegas, of Sotogrande International School, for her work ‘Long Walk Home’. Before Ismael Lopez, from IES Mar del Sur, was awarded with 50 euro for his work ‘Alucinacion’.
The winner of the Sovereign sponsored public vote was ‘Long Walk Home’ by Loreto Villegas, 14 years old. Loreto’s work won favour with the judges and the public for its simplicity in style and complexity in meaning. At first glance the figures in the monochrome scene appear to be angels, before closer inspection reveals them to be refugees.
Thank you to all those who took part in the “2017 Young Artists’ Exhibition”, and to those who took part in the Sovereign sponsored public vote. Congratulations to the 3 winners of the night!
