The Students Prize is coming to Singapore this January, 2107, in partnership with Singapore Contemporary.
Seeking to showcase the best of young artistic talent in Singapore and to celebrate the importance of art within the education system, the Sovereign Art Charity Ltd. (an affiliate company of The Sovereign Art Foundation) has formed a partnership with Singapore Contemporary to establish a new Students Prize.
The Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prizes recognise many exceptionally talented students and have a marked impact in fostering creativity in young people. In view of this, the Foundation is now looking to recognise and reward the best students and art programmes in Singapore. The initiative will see all Singapore secondary schools and art institutions invited to submit the best artworks produced by students within the academic year.
A judging panel of local art professionals will shortlist 20 finalist artworks to be exhibited at Singapore Contemporary, which runs from January 19 – 22 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre. Here, the winning artworks across both categories will be announced and the public will have the opportunity to view the works and cast a vote for their favourite piece.
The 2nd edition of Singapore Contemporary presents a vibrant collection of artworks – investment-grade art with a strong secondary market and auction following, plus works by some of the world’s most interesting and promising artists. Visitors may browse and buy original paintings, limited editions, sculpture and photography. There is also a new curated platform dedicated to photography, Photo 17 Singapore; and an enriching program of complimentary tours and special events for adults and children.
Students Prize entries close September 11. If you are a university student in Singapore and would like to submit an entry, you can do so here. Please note that secondary school students must be nominated by their school. For more information email email@example.com.
