Nalini Gopaul, Senior Lecturer and Head of the Sculpture Department at School of Fine Arts, Mahatma Gandhi Institute in Moka, Mauritius, holds a first class Master degree in Visual Arts with Specialization in Sculpture from Maharaja Sayajirao University in India. She has participated in many exhibitions and workshops both on the national and international levels. Nalini is a regular participant in the annual exhibition Salon de Mai since 2000, Port Louis by Light, Port Louis by Nature, Partage and ‘a la cARTE Aachener Kunstroute, Galerie fur Internationalen Dialog, Germany’, among others. She has been creating sculptures for nearly two decades with many different materials including clay, paper, plaster, terracotta, cement, bronze, ceramic, pottery, coloured glass, rusted iron sheets and nails, metal, scrap materials, textile, fabric, yarn, other natural and synthetic fibers, and branches.

She is also a versatile Craft artist and creates small handmade objects that are original works of art and are known for their aesthetic quality. She masters techniques, such as silk painting, batik, knitting, weaving, sewing, fusing /melting / shaping glass, glass etching, modeling, pottery wheel work, firing and glazing, painting and printing with oxides.
