The Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize, which is now in its fifth year, invites teachers from all Hong Kong secondary schools to nominate three of the best artworks produced by students within the academic year. University students may also enter and may self-nominate.
All artworks are viewed by a judging panel consisting of local art professionals, who then shortlist 20 finalists across the two categories. The top 20 Finalists’ works are then exhibited at a prominent Hong Kong art fair where the public are invited to vote on their favourite piece. A First Prize winner and a Public Vote Prize winner are chosen, within each category, from the top 20 finalists.
The Sovereign Art Foundation Students Prize aims to celebrate the importance of art in the education system and recognise the quality of art that can be produced by students in Hong Kong.
