Julia deVille is an internationally acclaimed artist and jeweller based in Melbourne, Australia. Drawing inspiration from Renaissance, Baroque and Victorian traditions, she creates contemporary works that explore beauty, devotion and our relationship with the natural world.
Originally trained as a jeweller, deVille later mastered the art of taxidermy, developing a distinctive practice that combines precious metals, gemstones and naturally deceased animals in sculptural assemblages of remarkable craftsmanship and emotional resonance.
Her work has been commissioned by the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) and acquired by the National Gallery of Victoria. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize and a Sidney Myer Creative Fellowship.
