This summer we hosted a hands-on, creative art workshop in the heart of Estremoz, Oficina de Arte, led by our Portugal Programme Manager Tanya Bennett.
This activity invited children from the local community to draw life-sized outlines of themselves and then fill them with paintings, drawings and cutouts representing their favourite things about Estremoz. From local landmarks to their families and friends, each creation became a colourful display about what they love about their town.
Parents came along and happily joined in, making the workshop a vibrant family activity full of shared laughter, creativity and community.
A special thank you to Joe Hoffecker for creating a set of adorable example images that inspired the children and helped guide their imagination.
It was a heartwarming summer morning workshop of self-expression, local pride and community fun, and we look forward to hosting more in Estremoz alongside our art therapy workshops.
Joe will be leading a workshop this September in Lisbon, where he’ll dive into his signature cartoon-style art. Follow our socials for announcements and to find out how you can get involved!
