On 30 and 31 May, Pig Parade returned to Estremoz for its second edition, bringing together artists, families, local businesses and supporters for a colourful weekend celebrating creativity, community and giving back.
Organised by the Sovereign Art Foundation Portugal in collaboration with artist Le Funky, the event transformed Howard’s Folly winery into a vibrant hub of urban art, live painting and family activities. Together, we raised more than €7,000 in support of our expressive arts programmes for vulnerable children across Portugal.
Originally conceived by the Sovereign Art Foundation in Hong Kong in 2018, Pig Parade was inspired by public art initiatives around the world that use creativity to engage communities while supporting charitable causes. Following the success of the project in Asia, the concept found a natural home in Portugal, where it has evolved into a unique collaboration between contemporary artists, graffiti artists and local communities.
Throughout the weekend, artists transformed the iconic pig sculptures into striking works of art while also creating large-scale murals at Howard’s Folly. Visitors enjoyed a lively atmosphere filled with creativity, community spirit and opportunities to experience art in an accessible and welcoming environment.
The funds raised through Pig Parade 2026 will directly support our expressive arts programmes, providing children with safe and supportive spaces to explore creativity, build confidence and strengthen emotional wellbeing through art.
Events like Pig Parade are only possible because of the incredible generosity and enthusiasm of so many people. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Le Funky for leading the artistic coordination of the project and to all of the graffiti artists who shared their talent and creativity. We are equally grateful to the local vendors, volunteers, partners and supporters who helped bring the event to life, and to everyone who joined us over the weekend.
A special thank you goes to Susana Corda, our Fundraising and Community Programmes Coordinator based in Estremoz, whose dedication and hard work were instrumental in delivering the event. Following the success of the weekend, Susana appeared alongside Le Funky on V+ TVI’s Bom Dia Alegria, where they spoke about the project and the role that art and community can play in creating positive change.
Pig Parade will continue beyond the event itself, with future public displays planned and many of the sculptures still available for purchase. Every artwork sold helps us continue delivering expressive arts programmes and community initiatives throughout Portugal.
We are incredibly proud of what was achieved together in Estremoz and deeply thankful to everyone who contributed to making Pig Parade 2026 such a joyful and impactful celebration of art and community.
