ReWORN: Fashion with a Future, recap

On Saturday 14 March, we welcomed families, creatives and fashion lovers to Dona Ajuda in Lisbon for an afternoon of making, conversation and collective rethinking through ReWORN: Fashion with a Future.
Set in the heart of the city, the event brought together community, creativity and sustainability, exploring what circular fashion can look like in practice, both globally and here in Portugal.
Textile Workshop
We began the afternoon with a children’s textile workshop led by multidisciplinary artist Sharker Nasrin, welcoming 20 young participants into a space of experimentation and making.
Using scrap fabrics, the children created accessories, photo frames and coasters, transforming discarded materials into something personal and new. The workshop focused on encouraging a shift away from a disposable fashion mindset towards a “make, do and mend” approach, introducing simple techniques such as cutting, assembling and decorating.
Panel Discussion
This was followed by a panel discussion exploring the realities of sustainable fashion today.
The panel discussed a range of topics, including what drives the way we consume clothing, where responsibility sits between individuals and the fashion industry, and the role that community can play in shifting behaviour. The conversation also touched on how to make more conscious choices in a way that feels realistic and accessible.
We are really thankful to all of our panelists for sharing their insights:
Michelle Pozon @ The Next Turn
Sulakshana Chemudupati @ Avant Green
Victoria Kather @ Brava Edit
Olya Kennedy @ Olya Kennedy.com
and to our moderator Eliette Rosich former Portugal Manager of the Sovereign Art Foundation, for guiding the conversation.
Curated Fashion Show
We then presented a curated fashion show featuring looks styled entirely from the available stock at Dona Ajuda.
Featuring an incredible group of models, the show highlighted the creativity and potential of second-hand fashion in a way that felt fresh, expressive and accessible.
The afternoon wrapped with guests sharing their thoughts and connecting over wine, generously sponsored by Howard’s Folly.
Thank You
A big thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon what it was.
We would also like to thank Nipuna  for generously donating his time and capturing the afternoon so beautifully, and to Dona Ajuda for being our partner and for providing a space each month for free, artist-led workshops that are open to the community.
Please stay tuned here and on our Instagram for future events and ways to get involved.
